Scientific method this is not only critical thinking and ability to check sources but it also the ability to the synthesis of information.
Generalization plays an important role in the creation of an abstract image. When we tell every time about the scientific theory, we mean a considerable share of abstraction in it that allows the scientific law becomes general in some certain area.
Scientific a method consists of passing of certain stages of cognitive activity: observation, analysis, generalization, hypothesis, check, application.
In something, it is similar to an economic strategy in marketing. #education #science #marketing #coaching

Veil Nebula Supernova Remnant😱😍
•
Called the Veil Nebula, the debris is one of the best-known supernova remnants, deriving its name from its delicate, draped filamentary structures. The entire nebula is 110 light-years across, covering six full moons on the sky as seen from Earth, and resides about 2,100 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan. This close-up look unveils wisps of gas, which are all that remain of what was once a star 20 times more massive than our sun. The fast-moving blast wave from the ancient explosion is plowing into a wall of cool, denser interstellar gas, emitting light. The nebula lies along the edge of a large bubble of low-density gas that was blown into space by the dying star prior to its self-detonation. In this image, red corresponds to the glow of hydrogen, green from sulfur, and blue from oxygen. The bluish features, outlining the cavity wall, appear smooth and arched in comparison to the fluffy green and red structures. The red glow is from cooler gas that was excited by the shock collision at an earlier time and has subsequently diffused into a more chaotic structure. A few thin, crisp-looking, red filaments arise after gas is swept into the shock wave at speeds of nearly 1 million miles an hour, so fast that it could travel from Earth to the moon in 15 minutes.

A String of 'Cosmic Pearls' Surrounds an Exploding Star😍💜
•
This image shows the entire region around the supernova. The most prominent feature in the image is a ring with dozens of bright spots. A shock wave of material unleashed by the stellar blast is slamming into regions along the ring's inner regions, heating them up, and causing them to glow. The ring, about a light-year across, was probably shed by the star about 20,000 years before it exploded.

Compos mentis
adjective
.
1. The ability to think clearly and be in control of, and responsible for, your actions.
.
“What do you think about that, Doris?”
.
“Oh I don’t know - you know I leave the thinking up to Roger.”
.
Unsubscribe Doris. Unsubscribe.
.
There’s oh-so much happening in the world right now! It’s constant and sometimes very overwhelming. Between climate change and the ludicrous climate change deniers - the violation of fundamental human and women’s rights, and the arrogant, power-mad policy-makers who enact these violations - each and every one of us has a responsibility as smart and conscious citizens to speak up, defend the marginalised, fight for human and women’s rights, actively combat climate change, AND encourage our friends and families to do the same!
.
What and how we consume, our political and social beliefs, our understanding of the effect we have on the environment and on other people’s livelihoods - all these things matter.
.
So this weekend while you’re enjoying your well-deserved time off, kissing your loved ones, and partaking in another lovely glass of whatevvra, please talk about the current issues you feel most passionate, talk about climate change, talk about how you can help prevent oppression and colonisation, and talk about the realties of the world and your consequent role within it.
.
Be conscious of your surroundings, your consumption, your privilege, your words, your impact. Feed your body and soul with quality, and your mind with light and truth, and accordingly being a kickass #ConsciousCitizen! And now go ahead and enjoy yet another glass! Xx

Happy Friday y’all! This week was rough, I had an accident and got a concussion... so trying to balance everything while taking care of myself was hard, but I did it- I got through the week! Always remember that your health, mental or physical should be a priority. It’s sometimes hard, but even taking a few minutes, hours, or a full day just to de-stress- you’ll come back 2x stronger. p.s I’m soooo rdy for this 3 day weekend!! •

The plasmodium has transformed!
This morning there were hundreds of developing sporangia (fruiting bodies) on three fern fronds where yesterday there was the active plasmodium.
Sporangia often appear overnight or in the early morning, but what triggers the transformation from plasmodia is difficult to assess. Changes in pH, temperature, moisture, or exhaustion of the food source have been proposed as triggers. The fact that I noticed immature sporangia of four different species several hundred meters apart this morning suggests that a change in atmospheric conditions may have stimulated their production.

The American crocodile is called the American crocodile because it is found in all 3 Americas: North, Central and South. 🌎 These guys can survive in salt water as they have a gland on their neck that regulates the salinity. 💧
Their diet consists of turtles, sloths, monkeys snakes and fish. 🐒 They also have amazing camouflage and adaptions with their eyes on top of their head so they barely have their heads out of the water, easily being mistaken for logs.
If the water is really merky as it usually is in the rivers they have down pressure receptors ensuring that they pick up vibrations from prey! Pretty impressive! 🌟 📷 @jogijsbersalejandre

What is WEIGHT BIAS? 🙅‍♀️
.
Weight bias is negative weight-related attitudes and beliefs towards individuals of higher weights. Weight bias usually shows up as stereotyping, rejection, prejudice, and discrimination towards people in larger bodies (including yourself). 👉Assuming people in larger bodies are lazy/unhealthy/lack self-discipline 👉Suggesting diets or giving weight loss advice when it wasn’t asked for 👉Complementing on weight loss (complementary weightism...it suggests that they weren’t worthy of praise before)
.
Obviously weight bias shows up in everyday life, but it is also super prevalent in the health/medical fields. Most of us are familiar with the argument “obesity = disease,” but often the studies that investigate this use a specific study design, like looking at mortality data or observational data. These study designs are NOT experimental, and when these designs are used, we end up with correlational data. And they can’t control for everything at once, like fitness/exercise level, socioeconomic status, or nutrient intake. BUT correlation DOES NOT equal causation, so we can’t say that “obesity CAUSES [disease]”
.
I’ve struggled with weight bias towards myself for most of my life. As a size 12/14/16, I’ve spent YEARS trying to force my body down to a smaller size, only to have nothing happen or end up back where I’ve started. Cause I thought it was ~healthier~ to be at a small size, and if I couldn’t get there, it was a major character flaw of mine, that I was lazy or a failure or stupid if I couldn’t make it. Unlearning this bias has been tough, and I’ve just started, so some days are worse than others. But learning to accept that my size doesn’t necessarily determine my health (and that other behaviors are much more responsible for that!) is important work, for me and for everyone. ✨

Take a moment to think about your own weight bias, against others or yourself. Do you expect yourself to be a certain size to be healthy? Do you judge others or contribute to weight bias towards your friends and family? Recognizing your bias is the first step to changing for the better! 🌞
What is WEIGHT BIAS? 🙅‍♀️ . Weight bias is negative weight-related attitudes and beliefs towards individuals of higher weights. Weight bias usually shows up as stereotyping, rejection, prejudice, and discrimination towards people in larger bodies (including yourself). 👉Assuming people in larger bodies are lazy/unhealthy/lack self-discipline 👉Suggesting diets or giving weight loss advice when it wasn’t asked for 👉Complementing on weight loss (complementary weightism...it suggests that they weren’t worthy of praise before) . BUT correlation DOES NOT equal causation, so we can’t say that “obesity CAUSES [disease]” . ✨ Take a moment to think about your own weight bias, against others or yourself. That #winning moment! 🙌🥇
..
Last week, Krithik Ramesh was awarded first place for developing a machine learning technology for orthopedic surgeons at this year’s #IntelISEF. Using #machinelearning and computer vision, the project helps orthopedic surgeons achieve greater accuracy for screw placement during spinal surgery. Based on Ramesh’s tests, this method has the potential to decrease operating time by at least 30 minutes, reduce physical therapy recovery time by four weeks and diminish the negative side effects associated with traditional medical imaging. ..
Congratulations to all of this year's #IntelISEF finalists! We can't wait to see what you do next.

Discovering the Franklin Institute is more than experiencing and having fun. It's inspirational that combines the best of my favorite visit to The Franklin Institute with the joy and adventures. Activities include museum exploration, theater shows, science projects, games, and workshops, all while fostering a community of humans who love science! I found it interesting how art, technology, science, and engineering have beautified the world within certain time. Also, good times & crazy friends make the best memories because it was extra fun being with these besties😻

In the last two weeks I had two opportunities to do science outreach with children 👦🏼👧🏾. I was super excited to be able to interact with them and share what fascinates me about biology 🔬.
.
It is very important to me to reach out and show the next generation that women can do whatever they put their minds to it. It is essential to have role models, because you cannot be what you cannot see, right? 👩‍💻 👩‍🎓 It is time to end gender stereotypes and build a more diverse and equal future.
.
Thinking about this issue @iZettle created “Women transforming tech” 👭 💻 📖 This book is a brilliant compilation of several stories of women that work at #iZettle accompanied by beautiful illustrations of them. The book aims to inspire the next generation of women in #tech while supporting the amazing work of @unwomenuk.
.
Reading this book made me feel inspired to pursue my own dreams 💭 and to say “I can do it too” 💪. You can purchase the ebook at womentransformingtech.com and all proceeds will go towards supporting UN Women UK’s work for women across the world 🌎🌍🌏

I won’t be impressed by technology until I can download food 🤤🥞 lol.

I remember the old days when I used to buy 2 pizzas with garlic bread from Dominos. Then, I would top it off with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, 2 chocolate bars, a bag of sour gummies and some sort of baked good like cake.

Yes... I actually did this about once or twice a month. Sometimes to this extent, sometimes not as bad. But not as bad was still pretty fricken horrid 😂

If you’re out there struggling with binge eating, or have terrible habits, know that it’s entirely possible to come to the other side. But to do so, I had to come to terms with what it was, why it happened, and where it came from. Only then could I overcome it.

When we eat, the palatability (taste) of food is addictive! It’s not the sugar... it’s the taste #science 😉 (Sugar is still inflammatory lol, not telling you to eat it). It makes us feel good! Serotonin, a feel good hormone/neurotransmitter in our body, spikes. It’s goes HIGH.

When we fill our bellies, our body also releases this amazing hormone. Blood rushes to the stomach as we get fuller, and fuller, and fuller. We feel GOOD.

What happens in the state of stress? Cortisol rises. Our fight or flight system is lit AF 🔥😎 in short, our body decides it’s stress time, not feel good time. Cortisol lowers serotonin.

Our bodies are AMAZING. When we get low in a hormone, when we get kicked out of homeostasis, it does everything it can to adjust. It looks for ways to boost serotonin when it’s low, as it’s a neurotransmitter for other essential hormones.

Oh wait. Doesn’t food and yummy things boost it? Isn’t food the most accessible thing we have to spike serotonin? Well, no. But it’s the easiest way to go about it. There’s also exercise, laughter, sex, mindfulness, connection and general health. But, we naturally seek instant comfort, hence why food is usually the “choice”. So what is the root cause of this? Stress.

How do we lower stress? Self acceptance & self respect.

Where does this come from? Looking inward and actually listening to your thoughts & feelings and becoming okay with the you YOU are right now.

Stay Blessed ❤️🥝

“But he alone gains enlightenment who knows its doors; for what were he to do with a house who cannot find his way inside” — Satapatha Brahmana
-
Doors and windows allow the nourishing influence of sunlight, air, food, and friendship to bring a dwelling place to life. In the same way that vital information passed through openings of our eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, architecture touches the surroundings through the openings of windows and doors — places where our private lives and the universe overlap. This overlapping of a building’s inner and outer worlds is altered by the character of the openings we create. Doors and windows are tools for expressing the consciousness of a building. The shape of a door or window serves as a storehouse of personal and cultural memory.

A lot of you don’t know what I do every day! Though I’m passionate about my family, sobriety, and mental health (majority of my posts) I’m also super into genetics. I am a licensed clinical molecular scientist (senior level- meaning I’ve been doing this a long time 😉) for a cancer reference and diagnostics lab. Molecular testing has become the primary tool for precision medicine. Basically, we run ordered tests from isolated DNA/RNA from blood/bone marrow/tissue utilizing many different cutting-edge technologies and identify the mutations within cancer patients that could be targeted by drugs or if there are available clinical trials. I like to think we make a huge difference in the world by providing the necessary info for oncologists to save lives. Before cancer I worked in prenatal genetics. One thing I love about this profession is the gratitude it brings to be healthy, to help really sick people, and when looking at DNA it’s completely clear (for all colors, ethnicities, sexes, etc) and reminds me we are ALL connected at the most basic level despite our differences. 🤓Happy Friday!! .
